Claimants may be entitled to a one-time, lump sum payment for permanent impairment resulting from an automobile accident. The permanent impairment could be an injury or weakness to the claimant’s body or one of their organs. It could also be a visible disfigurement or a permanent, measurable reduction of physical or mental function. Some examples of permanent impairment are; scarring, loss of vision or hearing, paraplegia, loss of limb, etc.
